If There is No God, Eat, Drink, and Be Merry for Tomorrow We Die

Christianity explains the universe and all it contains as well as why there is good and evil in the world. It explains how evil started but also how it has been overcome. Atheism (including but not limited to humanism) makes a valiant yet failing effort in explaining the ills of the world because it brings no hope! Where is the hope? Do I create my own out of my own will? Do I need a government to dictate what is good and right? How can they be accurate in the depiction of right and wrong when they are just like me - a creature that is flawed? And if that's not a flaw but a "feature of humanity" what hope is there???

How did the philosophy of sacrificing yourself for the common good of man come about? Why is that philosophy logical if I am merely here accidentally (via evolution), and I am merely a set of congruently working chemicals? If I am to create my own purpose in life why must I sacrifice what I want for the common good of man? Why should I care about anyone other than me? Does it really matter at the end of my life?

However, Christianity answers this question of ethics and sacrifice for the common good of man. In fact, it answers it with the very meaning of sacrifice - dying for enemies. Jesus demonstrated a love that no Atheist would dare attempt to display - for what IF the Atheist is wrong? But Christ not only died, he was resurrected from the grave as demonstration that even death itself (the ultimate enemy) has lost its power!

"Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For 'God has put all things in subjection under his feet.' But when it says, 'all things are put in subjection,' it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

Otherwise, what do people mean by being baptized on behalf of the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized on their behalf? Why am I in danger every hour? I protest, brothers, by my pride in you, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die every day! What do I gain if, humanly speaking, I fought with beasts at Ephesus? If the dead are not raised, 'Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die'" (1 Corinthians 15:12-32).

Why does Christianity make more sense than Atheism? Because Jesus demonstrated love and compassion to unlovely, sinful people by dying for them. God the Father accepted Jesus' perfect life and death (done for us and in our place) and resurrected Him from the dead - proof Jesus is Who He said He is. If Atheism is true, then phooey on you. Why should I care what you think or say? What compelling reason can you provide (having not even attempted to die for me - a decently good person) for me to believe you?

An argument never died for me. No other person has died for me. So why should I believe a reasoning argument from an Atheist? What more proof do you need to trust Christ? Yes, not everything in Scripture can be fully understood. Even the greatest Christian minds throughout history never fully understood Scripture. But the clarify of Scripture in regards to salvation is absolutely and abundantly clear - Repent! from your sins! Believe in Jesus who died for you and in your place!

So why should I believe you instead of Jesus?
