A Gospel Moment
The Gospel is growing on me. The more I understand the depths of the Gospel, the more I understand how much I really do need Good News.
Poison has infiltrated the rank of the church which has captured the minds of people unawares because the Gospel itself has been compromised.
One of the poisons of false teaching is that the Gospel declares our worth. This is far from the truth. The truth is God created us in His image. We are image bearers of God. Our worth is based on how we were made and whose image we bear. Our glory as image bearers does not reflect our worth in so much as it reflects the worth of God and His creative act in dispensing the reflection of His worth upon a unique part of creation. Hence, our worth is limited to and rests in the Glory of God revealed in us.
God's creation was good. Very good. But sin corrupted and defaced creation and particularly God's Image Bearers in that they became less than what they were designed to be.
What, then, does the Gospel say about us?
The Gospel tells us we are far worse off than we realize or imagine. But because of the Gospel, we are completely and fully accepted and loved by the Father for Jesus' sake than we ever dare dream. It is only when we realize we are nothing and Jesus is everything and by faith in Him are we then forgiven of all sin and guilt.
Taste and see that the Lord is Good!!
